On the 06th of June 2016, the Yaoundé Multi-Purpose Sports played host to the first ever conference of Top Female Leaders in Cameroon on the project “Building a Caucus of Top Female Leaders in Cameroon”.
This project funded by the Secretary’s Full Participation Fund, through the US Embassy in Yaounde, and technically supported by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family. The conference brought together Female Ministers, Senators, Deputies, Mayors and CSOs leaders Nationwide to brainstorm on recommendations and resolutions on the problems women faced in their communities, arrived at during the three inter regional conferences organized earlier this year in Garoua for the Grand North Regions; Bertoua for the Center, East, & South Regions; and Bafoussam for the West, North West, South West & Littoral Regions.
This national conference aimed at presenting the recommendations to the US Embassy in Yaounde and to the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family for onward transmission to the Gender Network in Parliament for policy formulation and revision, on the different issues raised. Meanwhile, the network of all female leaders present at the conference set up a working group to better towards creating a unique network of all female leaders in Cameroon.
